Hey Believers!

Now as you all know, keeping fit and enjoying an active lifestyle is right up there on my list of priorities, and becoming pregnant hasn’t changed that. However, I have noticed a shift in power- I am no longer entirely in charge of what my body needs or wants! There is a very strong willed, little one in there who is certainly dictating for the majority (… I wonder where they’re getting that from?!…) But seriously, for me, this has been the hardest thing to get used to. Making a vow to change your health and fitness is something most people can relate to. At some point, you’ve probably told yourself “right, from now on I’m eating healthy” or “going forward I’m hitting the gym every day!”.  But then somehow, things fall apart and we end up right back where we started.

It usually goes something like this:

We create a plan and make a commitment to ourselves. We’re on the ball, and focused on our goal, and are successful in sticking to the routine…… until life throws us a curveball. Whether it’s an unannounced guest, a last minute work trip, an important deadline, or you’re just feeling down in the dumps… something always seems to come along, that throws you out of sync, and before you know it it’s been a week since you set foot in the gym!

As I’ve noted before, 73% of dieters admit to quitting before they’ve reached their goal…. That’s a significant number, so if this sounds like you then you are definitely in good company.

When it comes to transforming lifestyles from unhealthy to healthy, a lot of people are intimidated by what they feel are “major changes” i.e. extreme diets/ extreme workouts. 73% of dieters admit to not seeing their diets through to completion, so you are not alone!

As amazing as it would be to become an overnight health nut, it’s not always realistic… things like work, school, family pressures etc require our attention, and somehow, even when we start out with the best intentions, we slip back into old unhealthy habits.

Friends often ask me what the best way is for them to initially change their lifestyle into a healthier one, my answer is always the same… keep it simple! There are tons of little changes that you can implement today, that are not overwhelming and that in turn will help you adopt a healthier lifestyle. Then, when you feel you’re ready, you can tackle a larger commitment, like a steady exercise regiment or specific diet.

So my suggestion is always to keep it simple at first, and then slowly but surely ramp up to your goal.

Here are a few simple changes that you can make TODAY to your daily lifestyle that in time will in time produce results of wellbeing.
